The Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted to the Permanent Electoral Authority a list of proposals of Romania’s diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad regarding the location of the polling stations that will be established in the diaspora for the May election. It is proposed to open 64 polling stations in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

Most of the polling stations proposed to be established are in Italy and Malta – 161, Spain – 147, Great Britain – 108, France (and the Principality of Monaco) – 69, the Republic of Moldova – 64, the U.S. – 50, Belgium – 29 and the Netherlands – 23.

Compared to the localities where polling stations were set up abroad in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, for this year's election, 29 polling stations were relocated to nearby localities or areas, either as a result of consultations with representatives of Romanian communities or for better coverage of communities in various areas, in order to facilitate their access to polling stations.

Five polling stations in France, the UK and Spain will have different addresses at the two rounds of the presidential election.

In the diaspora, the Romanians can vote for three days. On the first two days, Friday and Saturday, the schedule of polling stations abroad will be the same for both rounds of voting: the polling stations will open their doors at 7:00 a.m. local time and will close at 9:00 p.m. local time. On the third day of voting, i.e. on Sunday, the polling stations abroad will open at 7:00 a.m. local time, but will close at 9:00 p.m. the time in Romania.
