The works to repair the buildings of the Parliament and the Presidential Office take place at a steady pace. The first stage of installing the piping systems has been finished. The basic works on the walls up to the third floors of the two buildings have been completed. The buildings’ glass facades have been repaired, the Ministry of Construction and Territorial Development Vladimir Baldovici said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Employees of 30-35 construction companies take part in the works every day. “The works will undoubtedly be finished in the set terms: during five months at the Presidential Office and during eight months at the Parliament’s building,” the minister said.
According to him, there could appear problems with the financing. Money will be allocated from the budget only after the budget law is modified. Vladimir Baldovici also said that he does not know the potential foreign donors and the size of the grants that they could offer. It is only known that Russia is willing to provide US$20 million.
As to costs, Vladimir Baldovici said that some of the works are carried out at a lower cost than that stipulated in the expenditure estimate. Some works cost even twice less. But the repairs on buildings with such a status cannot be of a poor quality and thus no money is saved. Anyway, the minister considers that the reconstruction will not cost more than initially planned – half a billion lei.
