Communities located on both the right and left bank of the Nistru River are invited to apply for funding of social infrastructure renovation projects. The European Union will support the modernizing of about five social infrastructure facilities on each bank as part of the Confidence Building Measures Program, implemented by UNDP Moldova.
UNDP Moldova said in a press release that communities are encouraged to come up with project proposals aiming to rehabilitate social institutions, such as medical, cultural, sport, or educational facilities, as well as projects for improving essential community infrastructure, such as water and sewerage supply networks, waste management systems, street lighting, and others.
Communities on the same river bank may apply separately or in a group for financing for up to 80,000 euros, funds provided by the European Union. Joint applications from communities on both banks could get funds of up to 125,000 euros. The projects should promote cooperation and confidence building between the inhabitants on the right and left banks of the Nistru River.
The requirements, selection criteria, eligibility list, and other details may be consulted on UNDP’s web-site. The deadline for submitting the project proposals is April 8.
The fifth phase of the EU-funded Confidence Building Measures Program was launched in January 2019. Since the start of the Program in 2009, over 80 social infrastructure facilities from both banks of the Nistru River, including culture halls, schools and kindergartens, were renovated and equipped.
