On March 2, when the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude is marked, events to commemorate those who fell in the armed conflict of 1992 in order to defend the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova will be held in the capital city and in other localities of the country. The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the constitution of the organizing committee and also the plan of events, IPN reports.

"On March 2, it will be 33 years since the start of the actions to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, in which about 40,000 citizens took part, of whom 321 lost their lives, and 289 were left with disabilities," said Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin.

Religious services will be held in churches in memory of those who died in combat to defend the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

The authorities and members of veterans' organizations will lay flowers at the monument of Ruler Stephen the Great and Holy in the capital city. After that, a March of Remembrance will be mounted. From the Great National Assembly Square, the column will move on Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd, on Ismail St, Pan Halippa St, to the "Eternity" Memorial Complex, where a rally will be held and flowers will be laid at the "Sorrowful Mother" monument.

Commemorative events will also be staged in the country's cemeteries, at graves of former employees of the internal affairs bodies and of the fallen soldiers. Also, commemoration meals will be organized with the participation of veterans and family members of those who died on the battlefield.

Until March 2, the annual financial support will be granted to people who remained with disabilities as a result of the war for the defense of the territorial integrity and independence of the country and to the families of fallen combatants.
