The founder of the Civic Initiative Movement Artur Croitor, who ran for President of Moldova in 2016, calls upon the people to take part in the protest that is to be mounted in the central square of Chisinau on August 26. If someone does not want to be associated with one of the parties that organize the protest, Artur Croitor urges them to come together separately, near the Triumphal Arch, at twelve noon.

In a news conference at IPN, Artur Croitor called on the people to take noisy objects with them so as to use these if those from the main rostrum of the protest speak about geopolitics, the European or Russian course or other things that will not be related to the announced goal of the event.

According to Artur Croitor, Moldova’s economy stagnates, but the Government does not help the farmers. The people, in the absence of jobs, choose to go abroad and to contribute to the development of economies there. “We have all the possibilities to live decently and earn money, but I don’t know why this does not happen. What’s the problem? The problem is that we have a poorly-organized and weak government. We must reorganize this government,” stated the ex-candidate for presidency.

He also spoke about the low salaries of doctors, teachers and other categories of employees who cope with difficulty. “Reforms need to be done, but money is necessary for the purpose. Where to take this from? Only a developing economy can generate budget revenues so that this money is invested in development projects. Conditions should be created for each person to be able to work,” stated Sergiu Croitor.

According to him, for the citizens in Moldova to enjoy acceptable living standards, investments of about €800 billion and a honest and well-organized administration are needed. But the investors do not come to Moldova because the risks are high here. They go to countries where the law works.

As regards the invalidation of the Chisinau early mayoral elections, Sergiu Croitor said this is a proof of the departures of the government. “They want to annul our right to choose. There is chaos in the legal system. We will not have investments and development if things go on like this,” he stated, calling upon the people not to allow the government to violate their rights.
