The former chief of the State Main Tax Inspectorate Nicolae Vicol was put on the national and international wanted list, senior specialist of the Communication Service of the General Police Inspectorate Lilia Castravet has told IPN.
On June 18, Nicolae Vicol was sentenced to six years in jail for acts of corruption. The Rascani District Court of Chisinau, which passed the sentence, also fined him 10,000 lei and banned him from holding public posts for a period of five years.
Vicol was arrested on February 15, 2013 on charges of abuse of power and illegal tapping of inferiors’ phones. After staying under house arrest for a period, he was set free under judicial control by the Chisinau Appeals Court.
