Fair opens outside Ministry of Agriculture

A number of farmers exhibited their producs outside the building of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. The visitors can buy vegetables, fruits, eggs and other products in wholesale and retail quantities. From this Saturday, November 3, onwards, the fair will take place in every weekend, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov attended the opening of the fair and said that number of farmers who answered his call was unexpectedly high. “We wanted for a long time to get the producers and the customers to meet face to face and now we decided to organize this fair. We plan to open a special agricultural market soon, where people will be able to buy wholesale and travel with their own cars”, declared the Minister. Farmers sold cucumbers at 15 lei per kilo, eggplants for 10 lei a kilo, carrots for 6. The customers showed more interest in potatoes, which they bought wholesale. The rabbit meat and the lamb were very popular and after an hour, one could not find any more of it at the fair. People could buy local garlic at 70 lei per kilo. The farmers also exhibited strawberries, pumpkin and dairy products, alongside chicken eggs and honey. Some women brought homemade bread and pies for sale.
