The meeting of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk started in Odessa at 12 noon. It is also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov. Ukraine is represented by Foreign Minister Constantin Grishenko, while Transnistria is also represented by Nina Shtanski, who is in charge of foreign relations, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent in Odessa reports. At the beginning of the meeting, Constantin Grishenko said the discussions are held in the context of the preparations for a new round of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format, which is set to take place in Ireland’s Dublin late in February. The agenda of the meeting includes the prospects of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks and the steps that must be taken to deal with the acute problems faced by the people living on the banks of the Nistru River. The formal talks in the 5+2 format were resumed in Vilnius on November 30 – December 1, 2011, after a pause of almost six years.
