Financial services analyzed at bilateral screening meeting in Brussels

Moldova's progress on Chapter 9, which refers to financial services, was analyzed in Brussels within the bilateral screening. During the event, the national and EU legislation applicable to this negotiating chapter was presented in detail. Emphasis was placed on concrete aspects in the fields of banking, capital market, digital financial services, insurance, sustainable financing and optional pensions, IPN reports.

The bilateral screening meeting brought together representatives of the State Chancellery, the Ministry of Finance, the National Bank of Moldova, the National Commission for Financial Markets and the Fund for Guaranteeing Bank Deposits in the Banking System.

On behalf of the Ministry of Finance, Secretary of State Cristina Ixari, who leads the working group for Chapter 9, and Ana Litocenco, head of the Financial Sector Regulation Division and secretary of the working group, were present in Brussels.

The presentations centered on the implementation of these rules, the challenges and opportunities in each sector, as well as the related future plans.

"The constructive dialogue with European experts and the analysis of the legislation applicable to Chapter 9 are essential steps in harmonizing the national regulatory framework with European standards. The continuation of this approach will contribute to the development of a financial sector adapted to the requirements of the European single market, thus strengthening the country's European path," said the Ministry of Finance.
