Financial stability of Moldova, discussed at IMF and World Bank Group meeting

Topics related to the financial stability of the Republic of Moldova were discussed by the country's delegation, which participated in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, held in Washington, on October 14-20, 2019. The delegation included the Minister of Finance, Natalia Gavriliță, the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Vadim Brînzan, and the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, reports IPN.

Moldovan officials discussed with high-level representatives of the IMF and the World Bank the implementation of the program with the International Monetary Fund, the transformations that benefit the economy and the financial-banking sector of the Republic of Moldova. Also, there were meetings with economists and experts of the US Treasury, with top-level technocrats of the European Union, with representatives of large investment funds and of international banks.

The covered subjects referred in particular to sovereign debts and the understanding of the entailed risks, the non-banking lending sector, money in the world of mobile technologies and the implications for financial stability and development, management of capital flows, trade wars and how they affect global trade chains.

The Moldovan delegation benefited from international expertise and a transfer of competences with regard to building institutional capacities, achieving sustainable development goals, inclusive economic growth, revolution in infrastructure through integration, investment and innovation, labour market, components for programs with funds, as well as challenges in fighting corruption and promoting transparency in the government sector.
