The former prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo presented to the Central Electoral Commission 25,000 signatures in support of his presidential bid. The candidate declared that his initiative group demonstrated “an exemplary mobilization” and collected the signatures in less than three days.

Stoianoglo’s initiative group is the first to submit the subscription lists with the collected signatures to the CEC.

“This is not just an administrative exercise, but a barometer of the grievances and hopes of a society that wants a different kind of leadership. Behind every signature stands a citizen who is looking for a professional and responsible leader, capable of ensuring justice for all!”, said Alexandr Stoianoglo, who is endorsed by the Socialist Party in the race.

The CEC has now 7 days to verify the signatures and decide on Stoianoglo’s registration as a candidate.

To be registered in the presidential race, potential candidates must present to the electoral authority at least 15,000 and at most 25,000 signatures from at least half of the administrative units of second level.
