The municipal water supplier plans to build 13 running fountains in the central part of Chisinau within the campaign “Running fountains for Chisinau inhabitants”. The first four such fountains, which are located at the Stair of Cascades in the Park “Valea Morilor”, were put into operation on August 9, IPN reports.
SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” director general Veronica Herta said the running fountains are imported from Romania and are installed with the company’s money. Such fountains will also be set up in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral, in Europe Square and in other places in central Chisinau. Hard work was done on each of these locations. The project is to be extended to the other districts of Chisinau.
Veronica Herta also said that the running fountains will ensure access to drinking water in hot periods and will contribute to reducing the number of skeptics who doubt the quality of running water in the public supply system. “We have three important messages: one – we want to be closer to the consumers; two – the water supplied by “Apa-Canal Chisinau” meets all the norms set at national level and three – we want everyone to take care of the environment and of what we leave to our children,” she stated.
According to the company’s director, the idea of setting up running fountains was formulated by mayor general Dorin Chirtoaca, who celebrates his birthday today, but could not attend the inauguration ceremony.
