If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, five parties would enter Parliament, with only two of these being present in the current legislative body. The Party of Socialists (PSRM) would hold most of the seats of MP. It will be followed by the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA), the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN), shows the Public Opinion Barometer (POB) commissioned by the Institute for Public Policy. The poll results were presented in a news conference at IPN on October 20.

Over 70% of those surveyed said they would vote in the parliamentary elections. Of these, 26% would vote for the PSRM, 9.2% for the PAS, 8.5% for the PPPDA, 7.7% for the PDM, while 7.6% for the PPPN. The other parties would poll less than 6% and would not enter Parliament.

The respondents were also asked which of the parties they would no way vote. The Liberal Party ranks first with 44.5%. The Democratic Party comes next with over 35%. The Party of Communists wouldn’t be voted by 21% of those interviewed, while the Liberal Democratic Party by over 17%.

Almost 77% of those surveyed said the elections in Moldova are not free and fair, while over 86% said the country is not governed according to the people’s will. Over 50% of the respondents consider the country witnesses an intention to establish a totalitarian regime.

Almost half of those polled consider the work done by the Filip Government does not differ much from that of the other governments. Almost ¼ of the respondents described it as good and very good, while about 15% as bad or very bad.

The poll was conducted between October 6 and 16 and covered a sample of 1,109 people from 82 communities. The margin of sampling error is 2.9%. The carrying out of the Public Opinion Barometer is supported financially by Soros Foundation Moldova.
