The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration is recommending Moldovans to avoid traveling to a number of European countries in connection with heavy snowfall, IPN reports.
Yellow and orange alerts were issued for snow and blizzard during December 29-31 in a number of countries including Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain. Many highways and national roads in these countries have been reported congested or closed.
The Ministry is advising travelers to research weather conditions before going on a trip and take extra care on the road.
Moldovans stranded abroad in the named countries should seek help from the diplomatic missions or consular offices of Moldova and in emergency cases should call the Ministry's Consular Affairs Directorate on +373 22 201 041, +373 22 201 042, +373 22 201 047, +373 22 201 049, +373 22 201 050.
