Forestry companies will provide more fir trees for sale than last year

The Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” this year will put up for sale 44,000 fir trees, by 15,000 more trees than last year, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Christmas tress will be provided by 21 forestry companies of the existing 25 that are managed by “Moldsilva”. They were grown by forestry companies in Chisinau, Edinet, Iargara, Straseni and Balti, the Agency’s spokesman Viorica Caciuc has said. The firs are 1 to 10 meters high. The forestry companies sell the trees at the same prices as three years ago. The trees that are 1-1.50 meters in height cost 36 lei. 100 lei is added to the price of the trees higher than 6 meters for every meter after the sixth. As the previous years, the fir trees in the Chisinau markets will appear in the middle of December. Those who want can choose a tree directly from the nursery and will thus not pay the profit margin that often doubles the price. According to Viorica Caciuc, a fir tree needs 6-8 years to reach 1-1.5 meters. The fine for illegally cutting firs is 1 000 lei.
