Forged money brought to Moldova from Bulgaria

Five persons, one of whom an employee of the Ministry of the Interior, were arrested for attempt to put forged money brought from Bulgaria into circulation in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Monday, Bogdan Zumbreanu, deputy division head at the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, said the members of the group managed to smuggle from Bulgaria US$61,500 out of the US$1,000,000 that they intended to put into circulation in Moldova. The forgers intended to put into practice a classical scheme – change the counterfeit bills for fewer genuine bills. The forged dollars were seized by anti-corruption officers. The members of the group, most of whom are unemployed, are held at the Center’s remand unit. They face 7 to 15 years in jail.
