The Government has approved the 2018-2022 Food Safety Strategy, a document that aims to also achieve greater consumer protection.
The Strategy has a comprehensive approach that covers all the sectors and stages of food production, from fodder, to animal and plant health, to processing, storing, packaging, to marketing.
A component measure is the implementation of the e-ANSA service (ANSA stands for the Food Safety Agency in Romanian) which will provide the authorities with prompt and secure digital data. This will also work as a platform to handle emergencies in a prompt and effective manner.
Increased public health and food safety standards are also expected to facilitate Moldovan food exports to the European Union and the CIS.
