A sum of 22 million lei is needed to complete the works to reconstruct the National Museum of Fine Arts. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, accompanied by Minister of Culture Monica Babuc, visited the National Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum of History. The National Museum of Fine Arts has been under reconstruction since 2004. The Premier said he will try to identity the money needed for this monument of architecture to be restored, together with the Ministry of Culture, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Government.
According to the institution’s director Tudor Zbarnea, 36 million lei is needed for the full renovation of the museum. The Government allocated about 11 million lei for the purpose in almost 10 years. Another 4 million was offered by the Ministry of Culture.
Iurie Leanca also visited the National Museum of History that needs investments for repairing the roof and reconstructing the part of the building that will house the Museum of Victims of Deportations and Political Repression.
On June 4, the Cabinet decided to allocate 54,000 lei from its reserve fund for publishing two books about the mass deportations in the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic, on the initiative of the State Archive Service. A sum of 123 600 lei is needed to publish the two volumes that will be issued in 200 copies each.
