A group of young people with studies and experience in Western countries joined the Party of Law and Justice (PLD) which they consider a viable political alternative for the Republic of Moldova. The young people want a real change at economic and social levels in the country and aim to contribute to Moldova’s development from economic viewpoint by attracting foreign investors and by implementing models seen abroad.

In a news conference at IPN, Marin Ciobanu said that 14 persons who studied in Europe and the United States joined the PLD. “We will travel to districts and will speak to the people about our experience. We will make effort to disseminate the list of party’s members to everyone so that the young people join us,” he stated.

The young people said that they saw how a veritable state works when they studied and worked abroad and would like to implement this model of country, inter- human relations and functioning of state mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova too. “A task like this can be carried out only with people who have two major qualities: aptitudes and moral probity,” says the public call issued by the young people.

These consider that bringing jurists and prosecutors from abroad to Moldova is an incorrect approach. “To my mind, political will is needed to change things in the country and we need appropriate persons. The Republic of Moldova needs a new political class that would really become involved and would want to change the situation in the country,” stated Marin Ciobanu.

The leader of the Party of Law and Justice Nicolae Alexei said that analyzing the economic and political situation in Moldova, he reached the conclusion that the party cannot and does not have the right to continue to look at things from one angle only. “And this is because our country degraded so much as it is now on the edge of a precipice or even took a step down it,” he stated, noting that the difficult situation can be overcome by joining together the young people who studied abroad.

Of the 14 new members of the party, five are women of an average age of 35. The PLD is a party of the right that is Christian-Democratic in essence. The party’s program is aimed at promoting democracy, the European values and the model of sustainable development within a functional market economy.
