Parliament will hold parliamentary hearings on Banca de Economii (BEM) and the Chisinau International Airport on October 3, at the suggestion of Speaker. Igor Corman said such a decision was taken in order to bring the speculations on these subjects to an end. The Government will present a report, IPN reports.

“We had consultations with all the parliamentary groups. In order to end the speculations on these issues and to give all the lawmakers the chance to state their opinions, I propose holding the hearings next Thursday and introducing this subject in the agenda,” said Igor Corman.

The parliamentary groups of the Pro-European Coalition welcomed this initiative. The head of the Democratic faction Dumitru Diacov said that these subjects hold interest for the general public and the political class.

The head of the Liberal-Democratic faction Valeriu Strelet pleaded for ensuring transparency on these issues.

The leader of the Liberal reformers Ion Hadarca said that after he and his colleagues asked the Constitutional Court to pronounce on the concession of the airport, the parliamentary hearings on the issue can be interpreted as interference, but in essence they support the idea.

The Communist opposition also insisted on the hearings, but asked that Prime Minister Iurie Leanca be invited to them and that the national TV channel Moldova 1 broadcast them live.
