If the Republic of Moldova has a developed economy, the Transnistrian conflict will disappear, General Nicolae Petrica, chairman of the League of Armed Forces Veterans, stated for Info-Prim Neo, after laying flowers to the monument to Ruler Stefan the Great in memory of those killed in battle in 1992.
“It is very hard to reestablish all the connections, but we must be determined to do it. If the Transnistrians see a developed economy here and a country that they can trust, they will want to be with us,” stated Nicolae Petrica.
He also said that the country’s administration has been more active during the last few years and made effort to bring the banks of the Nistru closer, but they should deal with the problems here first. “We all must work, not only the Premier and the President. The statements do not produce results. We must every day talk to Russia, be diplomatic, but more insistent,” said the general.
Those who died in the Nistru armed conflict are commemorated on March 2. Services were held in their memory in the churches of the country. President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Vlad Filat, and Head of Parliament Marian Lupu came to the monument to Stefan the Great accompanied by MPs, members of the Government and state institution employees.
After laying flowers, the senior officials, together with war veterans, went to the Memorial Complex “Eternity”, to the “Grieving Mother“ monument, to hold a meeting in memory of those killed in battle.
On March 2, 2013, it is 21 years of the Nistru war for defending Moldova’s independence and territorial integrity.
