“The Government of Pavel Filip cannot resign because its members have worked illegally since June 8, when they lost office,” President Igor Dodon stated in a press briefing held after the Democratic Party announced its decision to withdraw from power, IPN reports.
“The Democratic Party admitted defeat. It is a victory, but not a final one,” stated Igor Dodon. According to him, this decision should clam down no one.
President Dodon said when a new Government was formed, the mandate of the former executive expired. The Filip Government started to be history on June 8.
As regards the legal solution about which the Democratic Party spoke, with reference to the Constitutional Court’s decisions, Igor Dodon said Parliament said it clearly that the CC was usurping the state power.
The President requested the constitutional judges to come together and review the decisions of June 7, 8 and 9, which he considers illegitimate. He also called on the prosecutor general and the head of the National Anticorruption Center to tender their resignation and asked the employees of state institutions to ensure the functioning of the emergency services.
