The Supreme Court of Justice has rejected as manifestly unfounded the appeal filed by the lawyers of fugitive Ilan Shor in the case that concerns the annulment of his identity documents, IPN reports.
Ilan Shor initiated the litigation after the ASP issued an order in November 2021 to cancel the identity documents issued in his name. In February 2022, Mr. Shor's lawyers filed a writ of summons, seeking the annulment of the order issued by the Public Services Agency. In a judgment of November 11, 2022, the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Riscani branch, dismissed the claim as unfounded.
In October 2023, the Chisinau Court of Appeal also rejected the appeal against the judgment of the first instance. As a result, an appeal was filed with the Supreme Court of Justice.
"The appeal is manifestly unfounded. The appellant's disagreement with the appellate court's decision does not constitute grounds to quash the contested decision," the SCJ said in the judgment issued on April 2.
In the act issued in 2021, the Public Services Agency stated that both the identity card of Ilan Shor, issued in 2012, and the passport, issued in 2010, were finalized and issued in violation of the law, being drawn up in his absence. Those documents were declared null and void and were annulled on the basis of an order signed by the director of the ASP.
