In vitro fertilization will be regulated by the Law on Reproductive Health that was passed by Parliament in the final reading on June 15, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The in vitro fertilization allows the women who cannot remain pregnant naturally owing to health problems to do it by medical ways, when the embryo fertilized in the lab is transferred to the mother’s uterus.
According to Liberal MP Gheorghe Brega, one of the initiators of the law, this law aims to improve the main demographical indicators in Moldova. It is based on the National Reproductive Health Strategy and refers to artificial insemination and donation of reproductive cells, cryoconservation of the sexual cells and embryos, etc.
The law bans yet surrogacy. Gheorghe Brega said that this ban was imposed following pressure exerted by religious groups.
The implementation of the Law on Reproductive Health will not imply additional costs.
