Increased security measures at Chisinau Airport

In connection with the latest terrorist manifestations in civil aviation and the November 13 Paris attacks, the company “Avia Invest”, in cooperation with the Border Police, stepped up the security measures at the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the company, the airport security employees and crew members will be additionally instructed so as to exclude the facilitation of aviation security procedures. Canine teams wil be used to examine the baggage and in crowded places.

The personnel of all the companies operating at the Chisinau Airport will be additionally trained to identify suspect persons and to examine units of transport parked near the airport. The number of airport security employees will be increased and their activity will be intensified depending on the passenger flow.

The passengers are subject to thorough security checks before boarding. The area is surveyed by video cameras. The profiling method is actively used, while the baggage and loads boarded onto planes are intensely checked. The personnel and units of transport involved in the reconstruction of the terminal and airdrome are also being screened.

Over the past ten days, the airport security employees examined and communicated with suspect persons who went through the airport. In a move to avoid emergencies, “Avia Invest” ordered increasing substantially the number of patrols around the airport.

“Avia Invest” is the company that manages the Chisinau International Airport based on a lease contract signed with the Government of Moldova.
