Integrity inspectors could order the termination of office or employment for civil servants, along with a ban from holding public offices, if there is a substantial difference between the legally obtained income and their expenses as well as accumulated wealth, under a set of amendments approved by Parliament in the first reading.

According to the bill, integrity inspectors will also be authorized to initiate contravention proceedings and impose fines for filing incomplete or false declarations. This will be possible in the event that wealth or income whose value exceeds two average salaries has not been properly declared.

Another proposal aims to double the weight of wealth and personal interest checks completed during a calendar year targeting employees with positions of public dignity, from 20% to 40%.

The bill is sponsored by a group of PAS lawmakers and is yet to be adopted in the final reading.
