International Forum of Young Theater Creators opened in Chisinau

Theater directors, scene painters, dramatists and critics from 11 countries will be taking part in the International Forum of Young Theater Creators in Chisinau during June 6-14. The event is aimed at discovering valuable works by young theater creators from the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Baltic Countries, and Georgia. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said the idea of founding an international theater union appeared as a result of a proposal submitted by the CIS Intestate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation. “It is a wonderful idea. We will stage roundtable meetings, where the young theater critics from different countries will be able to express their viewpoints on the plays performed within this forum,” the minister stated for Info-Prim Neo reports. Boris Focsa said that the Ministry of Culture has allocated 240,000 lei for the organization of the forum, while another 150,000 lei was transferred from the state budget. Thirteen plays that will be put on within the forum at a number of theaters in Chisinau, including the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, the National Puppet Theater “Licurici”, the Russian Dramatic Theater “A. P. Cehov”, and the National Theater Satiricus “Ion Luca Caragiale”.
