Investments in renovation of national schools

More than 37 million lei will be allocated to the Ministry of Education for repairing five of the 20 schools selected for renovation within the first stage of the Moldova Education Reform Project that is implemented with support from the World Bank. The decision was taken in the June 16 meeting of the Government, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry of Education says the roof and walls of the Theoretical Lyceum “Mesterul Manole” in Causeni will be repaired and thermally insulated. At the secondary school “Alexandru cel Bun” in Varzaresti commune of Nisporeni district, the money will be allocated for thermally insulating the walls and renovating the roof and ventilation system. An autonomous gas-based heating system will be built at the Theoretical Lyceum “V. Parvan” in Gotesti village of Cantemir district. At the Theoretical Lyceum “Vasile Anestiade” in Saratenii Vechi, Telenesti, the sewerage system will be repaired and the wiring in sanitation facilities will be rehabilitated. A gas-based heating station will be constructed and the heating system will be fully repaired at the Theoretical Lyceum in Tibirica, Calarsi.

Of the allocated sum, 22.7 million lei will be used for project designing and examination services and technical supervision of constructions at 20 schools. More than 110 million lei was earmarked in this year’s state budget for the renovation of schools.

The total budget of the Moldova Education Reform Project is US$40 million.
