The municipality of Chisinau should be open to investors and to tourists so that it becomes a modern and attractive city. This is what the Socialist candidate for the mayoralty Ion Ceban intends to focus on if he is elected mayor. He promised to open a new subzone of the Free Economic Zone “Expo-Business-Chisinau” and to set up new industrial parks so as to create new jobs, IPN reports.

“The economy is the basis that helps a city to develop. We will open a new economic subzone. We speak about investments of over US$70 million and over 2,000 jobs. We will help create new industrial parks, will put into practice investment agreements and will solve the problems of the development partners,” stated Ion Ceban.

Moreover, the Socialist candidate aims to institute an agency for developing Chisinau that will do away with the obstacles and corruption schemes in the process of obtaining documents by potential investors. “The capital city should have a specialized body that would deal with the development of Chisinau municipality. Such an institution would design in detail the urban development plan, would develop investment projects and would implement them and would identify investors in Moldova and abroad,” stated Ion Ceban.

He noted that to be able to implement all these ideas, he will borrow development practices and models from countries of Western and Eastern Europe. “Until February 2019, we will present the investment map of Chisinau municipality so that the investors see the general picture and take correct and optimal decisions,” said the candidate.
