Ion Creanga Lyceum wins Europe Trophy

The team of the Chisinau-based “Ion Creanga” Lyceum on Friday won the Europe Trophy of “The European School” annual competition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The winning team of the intelligence competition on European themes for schools was chosen from among the finalists of the sub-national contests held in the cities of Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.
According to the chair of the jury, Chisinau councilor Corina Fusu, the other competitors which made it to the final, which took place in Chisinau on April 18, were the Cahul-based “Ioan Voda” Lyceum (second place), and the Balti-based “Mihai Eminescu” Lyceum (third place).
The winners of the Europe Trophy will be awarded at a special ceremony on May 8 at the National Theater Mihai Eminescu in Chisinau, Corina Fusu revealed.
At the same time, the other finalists will be awarded during the events to be held in Balti and Cahul to mark Europe Day, which will take place in the period May 16-23.
Svetlana Japalau of the BDR Associates Moldova, the organizer of the competition, has told Info-Prim Neo that the intention of the contest was to discover the talent, creativities thinking and the imagination of the children, as well as to provide the contestants with the opportunity to have fun while sharing their knowledge about the European Union and Europe in general.
