Ion Dosca finishes 7th at World Draughts Championship

Grand international master Ion Dosca finished 7th at the 64th World Draugths Championship, which ended on Wednesday in St. Petersburg, Russia, Info-Prim Neo reports.
This year's Championship brought together over 40 players from 15 countries.
The Moldovan player won the last two rounds, but accumulated only 12 points. The gold medal this year was taken by Russia's Oleg Dashkov. The runner-up was Sergey Belosheev of Ukraine, followed by Alexandr Georgiev of Russia.
“The result obtained by Ion is really great, considering the fierce competition. There are as many as 8 world champions in the Championship's top ten”, Elena Tkakenco, Ion Dosca's coach and wife, told Info-Prim Neo.
In September, Ion Dosca won the gold medal at the World Veterans Championship.
Ion Dosca is the best rated Moldovan checkers player. He is a double USSR Cup winner (1980 and 1990), USSR Champion, Russian version (1991), medal winner at World Championships, universal version (1993, 1996-97, 2004), World Champion, universal version (1999), U.S. Champion, pool-checkers version (2000). In 2006 he won the 14th title of National Champion, Russian version.
