Italy has offered preparations for treating water in flooded wells and medications for the flood victims in Moldova to the value of about €10,000. An estimated 10,000 people will benefit from this aid during three months, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on July 30, Minister of Health Vladimir Hotineanu said Moldova is grateful to Italy for the provided support. Italian Ambassador to Chisinau Stefano de Leo said that Italy responded to Moldova’s appeal for help promptly and provided medical aid designed to strengthen the medical services in the flood-stricken villages. “The ties between our peoples are very strong as Italy is now home to over 200,000 Moldovans working there,” Stefano de Leo said, adding Italy is ready to offer assistance in building homes for flood victims as well. Silviu Domente, program coordinator at the Office of the World Health Organization in Moldova which helped brought the humanitarian aid, said the aid consists mainly of antibiotics and antibacterial preparations.
