Unaffiliated MP Iurie Leanca said neither he nor his unaffiliated colleagues in Parliament Eugen Carpov and Nicolae Juravschi heard sufficient arguments to vote for the new Government. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN, Leanca said that they weren’t convinced that it will be a new kind of government and a new approach to the system problems faced by Moldova.

“The same protagonists and the same manners to negotiate, the same party interests at the top and the same formula where not the Government, but the council of the coalition takes decisions. So, things will be again decided by the party leaders who hide in Parliament and didn’t occupy posts in the Cabinet. Besides, there is also the example of the Gaburici Government, which was built based on the same principles in general. So, we didn’t find sufficient arguments and reasons for supporting this new Government,” said the MP.

Asked what he would do if he had a controlling position, Iurie Leanca said he would first of all send an invitation to the IMF in Washington so that a mission to discuss a new cooperation program came to Chisinau as soon as possible and would phone to Brussels to discuss the direct budget funding program as the state budget as the blocking of the EU funds has serious consequences.

The lawmaker also said that he would immediately discuss with the EU the possibility of sending a mission for the justice sector and of designating a high representative. He would also discuss with the ministers and the ruling coalition to inquire how the reforms about which they spoke would start.

According to Leanca, the formation of the government is the only positive development witnessed in Parliament yesterday as a day without a government and without people who would assume responsibility costs more and more.
