Jubilee edition of Days of Slavic Writing and Culture

The Interethnic Relations Bureau during May 18-24 will stage the traditional Days of Slavic Writing and Culture all over the country. This year’s edition is a jubilee one as it is 25 years since Moldova has commemorated the authors of the Cyrillic script Cyril and Methodius, alongside other countries, IPN reports.

Within the Days of Slavic Writing and Culture, festivals, people’s celebrations, concerts, poetry recitals, literary-musical performances, conferences and exhibitions of paintings and handicrafts will be mounted in the towns and villages of the country.

The official ceremony to open the Days of Slavic Writing and Culture will take place at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” in Chisinau on May 20. The event will involve senior state officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps working in Chisinau, leaders and members of ethnic and cultural organizations, etc.

On May 21, flowers will be laid at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy and at the monuments to prominent personalities of the Slavic culture, including A. Pushkin, Metropolitan Bishop Petru Movila, Hristo Botev, and Taras Shevchenko.
