A lawyer from Chisinau and his accomplice were detained in a case of influence peddling committed in aggravating circumstances. The case also involves other citizens who allegedly received between €500 and €47,000 as they promised to influence prosecutors and judges to solve criminal cases or preventive measures, IPN reports.
Officers of the National Anticorruption Center, under the procedural guidance of prosecutors in Balti, have carried out 12 searches and other criminal investigation measures in five cases of corruption.
The Center noted that the anticorruption officers seized a number of objects and documents relevant to the criminal cases. The lawyer and the accomplice were detained for 72 hours.
Any person is presumed to be innocent until a final and irrevocable court sentence is pronounced. Procedures are ongoing.
