SA “Franzeluta” throughout summer will produce only one type of social bread – Chisinau – because the second line that produces social bread Codru is under repair. The bakery’s director Victor Cojocaru has told IPN that the repair works will be carried out in summer because the demand for any type of bread in the period decreases. “In autumn, we will resume the production of both types of social bread. The lack of bread Codru is offset by producing a larger volume of bread Chisinau,” he stated.
According to him, “Franzeluta”, in which the state owns a majority shareholding, does not intend to stop producing social bread. “The press reports that we will no longer make social bread are not true. A week ago, we had the annual assembly of shareholders. The problem of losses sustained as a result of producing social bread was discussed, but we didn’t give up making it, said Victor Cojocaru.
He also said he knows that the people are dissatisfied with the fact that the volume of social bread is insufficient. “We make social bread, but cannot make sure that it reaches the destination. I personally followed for several times how it is sold in shops and saw that the same persons come after social bread at our shop, which works near the company. How much bread can a person eat?” asked the bakery’s director.
Victor Cojocaru admitted that the sellers speculate in social bread. Those who buy it sell it to other persons for a higher price or feed the animals on it. “Franzeluta” cooperates with about 1,600 stores. The director believes that the state should provide assistance to the persons in need or the pensioners so that they are able to buy the bread they like.
5% of the bread made by “Franzeluta” is social bread that is sold at lower prices than the market ones.
