During a year after its opening, the border crossing point Lipcani-Radauti that is located on the Moldovan-Romanian border in northern Moldova recorded over 200,000 entry and exit crossings, including 636 crossings on the basis of small-scale traffic permits, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Border Guard Service.
Two persons who violated the rules of staying in Moldova were detained. There were recorded 14 cases of confiscation of goods, 13 of which were discovered in concert with the customs. They included smuggling of cigarettes and an attempt to bring in a unit of transport with a forged registration certificate.
The connection between the borders is ensured by a bridge over the Prut River that was built in 2005. The bridge is situated between Lipcani village of Briceni district and Radauti Prut of Botosani county and is used both by pedestrians and vehicles. It is 246 meters long and has two lanes.
