The judges will be now investigated without the consent of the Supreme Council of Magistrates not only for such offenses as acts of corruption and traffic of influence, but also for money laundering and unjust enrichment. A bill to this effect was approved by the Government, IPN reports.
Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim said that an authorization from the prosecutor general or the first deputy prosecutor, or from the acting deputy prosecutor, will be needed in order to investigate a judge.
The bill regulates the possibility of arresting a judge within an investigation, with his/her immediate release after the report on the offense is drawn up, and by informing the Supreme Council of Magistrates about the arrest.
