The Embassy of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova announced today, June 28, the winners of the contest about Lithuania, in regards to the 20th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Lithuania, reports Info-Prim Neo. The large number of participants, who knew so much about our country, pleasantly surprised us”, said Violeta Motulaitė. Lithuanian External Affairs deputy Minister Evaldas Ingnatavicius mentioned that Moldova was the first state to acknowledge Lithuania’s independence in 1990, although the country was small and insignificant at the time. “We appreciate the support given back then. Moreover, Moldova had the courage to support us in 1990, two years later we established diplomatic relations, and look at us now, celebrating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. We presently continue our relations with Moldova and have many common projects related to business and culture”, added Evaldas Ingnatavicius. The participants received symbolic prizes, and the winner of the contest, who at 17 is also the youngest contestant, will have the chance to visit Lithuania. The sponsor of the contest, the Moldo-Lithuanian company “Centrul TOC”, funded the main prize. The contest was the first in its nature and was part of the events organized with the occasion of celebrating 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Among the main events of this anniversary are: the concert, at the Organ Hall, of the famous Lithuanian violinist Dzeraldas Bidva, and two exhibitions, one at the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova, and the other at the Museum of Etnography and Natural History, part of which are the traditional Lithuanian belts.
