Street lighting and lighting in yards of apartment buildings in the capital city will be restored in a month, assured officials of the Chisinau City Hall. Contacted by IPN, head of the municipal lighting company “Lumteh” Nicolae Verejco said the power lines affected by the mid-April snowfalls in Rascani, Ciocana, Centru and Buiucani districts were 90% restored, while in Botanica district – 80%.
Being a rather green district, Botanica was most seriously affected. It is planned that the street lighting in Chisinau will be fully restored within a month.
Nicolae Verejco said two streets of Chisinau, Dimo and Florilor located in Rascani, continue to be unlit, but the works to repair the power lines there were started this week. As the workload is heavy, workers from other districts were mobilized to lend a hand.
According to the head of “Lumteh”, the problem does not reside in the absence of light bulbs. The broken cables that pose a threat are being removed and the power lines are being repaired and this is hard work.
It hasn’t been yet calculated how much money has been invested in the restoration of lighting in Chisinau so far, but the assessment carried out in April showed about 11 million lei is needed for the purpose.
