The National Theater “Luceafarul” took two of the eight prizes awarded at the Cairo Theater Festival that took place in Egypt between October 10 and 20. In a news conference, the Theater’s artistic director Stela Focsa said Moldova was the only country of the 48 participating states that won two prizes – Best Director and Best Troupe Performance in the play “The Good Person of Sichuan”, under the direction of Boris Focsa, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In 2004, this play had won two prizes at the UNITEM Prize Gala (for the best play and best female role) and one at the International Theater Festival “Belaia Veja” in Belarus (for originality and experiment).
During October 2-9, the troupe took part in the International Children’s Theater Festival “100, 1 000, 1 000 000 stories” that was held in Bucharest. It presented the play “Alladin”, which was very popular with the children.
The 2010/2011 session is a jubilee one for the National Theater “Luceafarul” as it marks 50 years of work on November 12. On this occasion, there will be held a theater symposium with theater critics, journalists and artists from Moldova and abroad and will be launched the book “Memories in White and Black” by theater critic Dina Ghimpu. The launch will be followed by a jubilee evening involving actors and all the founders of the Theater.
