Man sentenced to 14 years in jail for murder of girl

A man aged 26 was sentenced to 14 years behind bars for murdering a girl in 2002, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Prosecutor General's Office. According to the prosecutors, in 2002 Sergiu Boiangiu, while working as a watchman at a high school in Chisinau, broke the locks and stole property to the value of over 8,000 lei from a number of offices. Several days later, the man was seen in a park in the municipality of Chisinau together with a girl whom he knew for two years. He hit the girl several times, causing her bodily injuries. As a result of them, the girl died. Witnesses said he killed her because she reported him to the police. The man threw the body into a drainage channel and hid in the woods of Ialoveni districts and then in those of Grigoriopol district.
