A man was sentenced to five years in prison for assaulting a policeman while performing his duties in February 2023 in a store in Cimislia, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor General's Office said that, being intoxicated, the 25-year-old man generated a conflict and his violent behavior required the intervention of the police. Taken to the local police inspectorate for identification, the individual became aggressive during the procedural documentation. He tried to leave the office and kicked the interviewing officer, causing him medium bodily injury and damaging his uniform.
The Cimislia Court found him guilty of using violence dangerous to health against a person holding a position of responsibility in order to prevent this from fulfilling his duties, in the interest of the one who used violence.
In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant was ordered to pay the policeman 80,000 lei in respect of non-pecuniary damages. Also, the defendant will compensate the material damage caused to the injured party and the legal expenses related to the examination.
