Man who fired at CCCEC officer arrested

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) ordered placing the man who fired a gun and injured an officer of the Anticorruption Center (CCCEC) during an operation under arrest for 72 hours. The man is held at the remand center of the Ministry of the Interior, head of the PGO’s press office Maria Vieru has told Info-Prim Neo.
The PGO assumed responsibility for this case in order to ensure the objectivity of the investigation. In the evening of April 11, an officer of the CCCEC was shot in the head during the arrest of a group of persons who smuggled contraband from Ukraine. The officer was taken to the hospital in a serious condition and underwent two operations.
The man who opened fire said the officers of the CCCEC entered his house masked and armed and started to beat his son. In order to stop them, he fired a shot and went to seek help. When he returned, he found out that he injured an officer. The incident happened in Tudora village of Stefan Voda district. The man faces up to 12 years in jail.
