In Moldova’s history of arts, Maria Biesu is a golden epoch and thus she is an extraordinary loss, People’s Artist Mihai Munteanu has told Info-Prim Neo. He said that Maria Biesu will remain forever in the memory and history of our people. “She had sung for 50 years on the stage and the National Opera in this period was associated with Maria Biesu. When we said Maria Biesu, we meant the opera in Moldova and when we said the Moldovan operate we meant Maria Biesu,” said the tenor. He also said that Maria Biesu was an extraordinary singer who is born once in a century. “She was a golden voice, a unique voice that appears once in 100 years. She was hard-working and considered her life a long tour. She sang in all the countries, all over the world,” said Mihai Munteanu. According to a communiqué from the Government, Prime Minister Vlad Filat ordered creating a governmental commission that will deal with the preparation of the funerals. It will be headed by the executive’s deputy secretary general Anatol Onceanu. Maria Biesu was born on August 3, 1935 in Volintiri village of Cetatea-Alba County, Romania. This year, the Prima Donna would have turned 77. Maria Bies made her debut as a soloist with the folk music band “Fluieras”. At the age of 32, she won the title of the Best Cio-Cio-San at the first Miura Tomaki International Contest held in Japan. She performed on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and at opera theaters in Paris, Sydney, Tokyo, Warsaw, Helsinki, Leningrad and other cities.
