The European Parliament reiterated its support for the pro-European government of Moldova, for political stability and for the constitutional order, chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said after a meeting with the European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius, IPN reports.

Marian Lupu told the press that the European partners will assess the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU based not on statements, but on concrete actions and results. Moldova’s Parliament and the European Parliament will continue to cooperate.

According to the Democrats’ leader, Petras Auštrevičius welcomed the proposal of Speaker Andrian Candu to create a platform for communication with the opposition and civil society, which would support the structural reforms in the country. The European official said that in the meetings with representatives of the opposition and civil society, he will encourage these to take part in the dialog.

Marian Lupu said the situation in Moldova is a reason for concern for the European partners, noting that these see not only the dissatisfaction of the people. “Brussels sees how the nuances of the geopolitical struggle given in Moldova intensify and the actions taken by a series of radicalized political forces. They see very well that these actions do not derive from inside the country. The orders come from outside the country,” he stated.

The European Parliament Rapporteur for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius didn’t make statements for the press.

During his three-day visit, the European official will have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Liliana Palihovici and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur. Petras Auštrevičius will also discuss with Moldovan MPs and politicians.
