Romania's Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca says that Bucharest wants to see in Chisinau a government that would be representative for all the groups of voters. Last night's guest of the “Fabrika” talk-show on Publika TV explained that the next government shouldn't base its actions only on its constituency and the results of governance should include all the citizens, IPN reports.
“Beyond the two big geopolitical options, there is an agenda with topics of common interest for the governing and the opposition parties. I don't think that someone would oppose, for example, the reform of justice. It's key to think of a government program that would garner national consensus. No party should think of itself as the owner of those who voted for it”, said the Romanian diplomat.
He remarked that the votes of the “Patria” Party weren't lost and the governing parties should think about them. “These votes are the voice of protest and disappointment. This protest ought to be studied carefully and transformed into political decision”, suggested Lazurca.
Although he is in favor of collaboration between pro-European parties and the opposition, Lazurca is skeptical about PCRM's participation in the act of governance. “It's a hypothesis that cannot be overlooked. But it all depends on the new government's willingness to attract on its side those who voted against it. They might think of a broad consensus government program so that the opposition parties could support one or more policies included in this program”, said the ambassador.
Marius Lazurca also announced that Moldova and Romania could have joint border checks, as requested by the authorities in Chisinau. “This topic has been brought up by Moldovan officials during several high-rank meetings. Now, the authorities from the two countries are discussing the compatibility between national legislations, as well as the Schengen regulations. I hope that the Romanian authorities will have an answer to this request not later than next year”, said Lazurca.
