Four persons aged between 30 and 57, including the mayor of Basarabeasca town, were arrested in a criminal case concerning the sexual exploitation of a minor. The mayor is accused of professional negligence, IPN has learned from the General Police Inspectorate.
As a result of investigations, the police established that in 2015 – 2016, a man aged 45 living in Basarabeasca town profited from the fact that his minor daughter aged 13 was in his care and forced her to have sex for money with different clients. The local authorities were informed about the cases of abuse, but these didn’t take measures.
The mayor of Basarabeasca town was arrested on March 17. Earlier, the police arrested the victim’s father and two men who were among the clients.
Currently, three suspects are in remand detention, while the mayor was placed under arrest for 72 hours. They face two to 20 years in jail. The police continue the investigation to identify other persons involved in this case.
