Being at the end of his second term in office, Mayor of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca presented a progress report on April 27. The mayor enumerated all the major accomplishments of the last year, including the building of the pedestrian street, lighting of Dacia Blvd up to the airport and the inauguration of the monument to victims of Stalinist deportations, IPN reports.
The mayor stated that 30,000 jobs were created in 2014. There were assembled 20 trolleybuses and finished the reconstruction of the streets Alecu Russo and Ion Dumeniuc. The capital city started to follow the road to sustainable and stable development.
Dorin Chirtoaca reiterated his intention to run for the mayoralty of Chisinau for the third time, underlining that the residents of the municipality are the top priority of the administration of Chisinau. For 2015-2016, the local authorities set ten major goals aimed at improving the living standards of the inhabitants of the capital city, including to steadily develop the city and create new workplaces, to completely renovate the housing sector, to renew the public units of transport, to solve the problem of animals without shelter and to rehabilitate the historical center of Chisinau.
Dorin Chirtoaca was elected mayor of Chisinau for the second consecutive term in June 2011.
