Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the persons who broke into the Chisinau City Hall and has stayed there since Monday are swindlers and he will not have discussions with them. In a news conference on November 5, the mayor presented documents showing that the protesters had received apartments or plots of land from the Chisinau mayoralty, IPN reports.
According to the mayor, protester Valeriu Ciobanu, who is not even a war veteran, and this fact was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense, owns a four-room apartment located on Igor Vieru St in Chisinau. As the head of an association, he received 2.2 hectares of land for building private homes on it for the members of the association in Stauceni commune.
Protester Anatol Bazgu lives in a three-room apartment on Ginta Latina St. Earlier he also obtained an apartment located on Mircea cel Batran Blvd and a plot in central Chisinau, which he sold.
The other protesters Valeriu Fedcodin, Ion Coropat and Vasile Chetrus also own property besides the apartments they received in the building for war veterans constructed on Nicolae Milescu-Spatarul St.
“The evidence I provided here confirms that these people are swindlers. They commit an illegality and are wrong if they think that they will get something from the City Hall by bringing flags of the European Union and of Moldova, causing disorder and occupying abusively the City Hall,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
He repeatedly called on the law enforcement bodies to take measures to restore order and to liberate the mayoral building. “The fact that the police do not intervene to restore public order at a time when legal action was taken on this case shows that they are accomplices to this illegality,” said the mayor.
On Monday, November 3, a number of veterans who are members of the public association “Movement of Transnistrian Refugees” picketed the Chisinau City Hall and then entered by force the meeting hall. The veterans are dissatisfied that they cannot become owners of the apartments provided to them by the authorities.
